App Store Connect field guide

Every App Review status, translated into the next action.

Status names describe control, not just progress. Start by asking whether Apple, the developer, or the release setting owns the next step.

StatusWho owns the next step?Meaning and action

Waiting for Review

Apple

Apple has received the submission, but active review has not started.

Check for separate metadata, agreement, compliance, or IAP actions. Otherwise, preserve the queue position.

In Review

Apple

App Review is examining one or more items in the submission.

Keep backend services and demo access stable. Watch for messages, but avoid changing the submission without a reason.

Unresolved Issues

Developer

At least one submitted item was not accepted and needs attention.

Read every cited item and guideline. Reply when clarification is enough; change and resubmit when behavior or metadata is wrong.

Rejected

Developer

The app bundle or TestFlight submission was not accepted.

Reproduce the issue, fix the root cause, document the test path, and only then submit a new build when required.

Accepted

Submission

This item was accepted, but another item in the same submission may still be rejected.

Resolve or remove the rejected item before the complete submission can move forward.

Ready for Distribution

Developer / release setting

The app is approved and can distribute according to the selected release method and date.

Verify availability, release controls, production services, and launch monitoring.

Status definitions are summarized from Apple's current App Store Connect reference. Apple remains the authoritative source.
